NESPT

Former Clydesdale Bank, Fraserburgh

The NESPT purchased the category B listed former Clydesdale Bank in February 2020 with the help of a grant from the Scottish Government Town Centre Fund. The grant also allowed urgent repair work to the roof to be carried out. The plan is to convert the building into an extension to the hotel already developed in the adjacent former John Trail Bookshop. When complete the building will provide a new 42-cover restaurant in the courtyard, a large bar/bistro in the former banking hall and five additional bedrooms with lift access.

Work to the building is being undertaken in phases, as and when funding allows. Phase 1, the complete external refurbishment of the building, was completed in February 2022. A further phase of work, to create a 42-cover restaurant in the courtyard behind the building, was completed in November 2023.

A further scope of works started in March 2023, looking at suitable uses for the former Bank building, including further hotel provision.
